About The Beach
As a sport-minded family, we have always had a passion for volleyball, and, primarily, indoor volleyball. In the summer of 2007, however, our oldest daughter began playing beach volleyball in order to help her indoor game. She absolutely loved it, and this love spread to our youngest daughter and naturally to us. Watching the 2008 Olympic Men’s and Women’s Teams take home the gold in beach volleyball capped off our new found love for the sport.
Playing in the DFW area, unfortunately, was difficult. The facilities with a sufficient number of courts were bar-focused businesses, not ideally suited for junior athletes. Realizing this, we began dreaming of building our own beach facility. We wanted a place that our kids and their friends could play, a place that we could play; a place that would appeal to volleyball lovers of all ages. Within a year, we learned that the NCAA was proposing to make beach volleyball a scholarship sport in 2011. The time seemed right for a junior friendly beach facility.
Soon after our thoughts began to take shape, we were introduced to the great folks at Craig Ranch in McKinney, Texas, who had an ideal piece of property in the heart of their North Texas Athletic Center Addition. A perfect place for a beach facility, surrounded by sports and healthy living galore! We now could build a beach facility that could appeal, not only to volleyball lovers of all ages, but sport lovers of all ages too. Our dream was quickly becoming a reality!!
We will develop the property in phases. The First Phase is complete with 12 pristine beach courts plus concessions and pavilion area, called The Beach at Craig Ranch. The Beach officially opened September 11, 2010 and is capable of hosting professional events; junior clinics, leagues and tournaments; adult clinics, leagues and tournaments; birthday parties, t3eam building; and corporate events. The next phases will include adding a sports cafe and various retail/office spaces.
