Junior Volleyball Lessons |
| |
We offer private or group lessons scheduled at the mutual convenience of you and our instructor. The lesson will be geared toward each individual's specific goal. You can choose the skill(s) you want the instructor to emphasize.
Before your lesson, think about and discuss your specific goals wth the instructor so he will be able to structure the time accordingly. The more you think about what you want to get out of a lesson, the more you will benefit from it.
We do not have specific instructors assigned to lessons yet but have relationships with local volleyball clubs to help find the right instructor for you. If you are interested in private or group lessons, please call (469) 854-6800 or email susan@thebeachatcr.com.
Lessons can be reserved in 1 hour increments. We eventually hope to have designated time slots specifically for lessons but for now, please call (469) 854-6800 or email susan@thebeachatcr.com to check on court availability for your preferred day and time and we will coordinate with the instructor.
Cost per hour: 1 player = $50/player; 2 players = $30/player; 3 players = $25/Player; 4 players = $20/Player
Full payment is due at the time of the lesson and may be made by credit card, cash or check.

A mini version of the 1st annual ASA/MSA Spring tournament. FUNDS GOES BACK TO ASA OR MSC (NOTE ASA2011 or MSC2011 IN COMMENTS SECTION WHEN REGISTERING). Check-in starts at 4:45 pm with a 5:30 pm start (please bring the signed waiver form with you to check-in). Tournament format will be as follows.:
- Guaranteed 4 games
- Round Robin Pool Play: Match play with each team in your pool and will consist of 1 game to 21 (4th grade and 5th grade recreational will be 1 game to 18). No win by 2.
- Single Elimination Bracket Play: - all teams make it to bracket play. In the event two or more teams are tied, the top two teams will be determined by a series of tie-breakers - no play-off matches. All bracket play will include 1 game to 25, win by 2 but cap at 30. We may have to make adjustments to scoring depending on time constraints.
- Awards will be given to division winners.
- In the beach world, matches are self-managed which typically means (i) no sideline coaching during matches; (ii) teams not playing keep score and ref for other teams; (iii) no line judging BUT please note that 4th grade recreational, 4th grade completitive and 5th grade recreational teams must assign a parent to act an an “official” who will make any call violations...the kids would still keep score.
- A meeting with each team representative will take place 15 minutes prior to start of pool play.
- Equipment Differences:
- 4th Grade/5th Grade Recreational: volleylite, 6'8" net, shorter court, shorter serving line
- 5th Grade Competitive/6th Grade Recreational: regulation ball, 7'0" net, shorter court, shorter serving line
- 6th Grade Competitive: regulation ball, 7'0" net, shorter court, regular serving line
- Middle School/High School: regulation ball, regular (7'4") net, regular court, regular serving line
- Play Rules: The main differences between indoor and beach volleyball are as follows:
- Cannot set a serve...hands must be touching;
- no open hand dinks at the net
- if set the ball over the net, the ball must travel in the direction of your shoulders, no deception
- the 4 players on each side can play in whatever position...no required rotation BUT servers must serve in order
We would like the teams to try to adhere to the beach rules, but understand that many are new beach volleyball so rule enforcement will vary by division as will be discussed with team representatives at the meeting.
Accepting team registrations only. Registration deadline will be September 21, 2011 for September 24, 2011 tournament and September 28, 2011 for October 1, 2011 tournament.
